Auckland has long been a hub of navigation and exploration and now leads New Zealand’s aerospace sector.
Since 2019, the New Zealand space sector has grown 53% to NZ $2.68 billion, while advanced aviation has added NZ $0.53 billion. Together, they generate more than NZ $3.2 billion annually.
With clear skies and broad launch angles, New Zealand has a natural advantage as a launch site, and centre for advanced aviation.
Auckland hosts 45% of New Zealand’s aerospace organisations, including Rocket Lab, Zenno Astronautics, and Frond Space Systems. The ecosystem is supported by the University of Auckland’s Space Institute, Auckland University of Technology and a strong group of venture capital firms.
